On a cool cloudy September day, we took one last 6 mile hike our favorite local haunt— North Ottawa Dunes Park. After a cool rainy spell everything was green and the mushrooms were in profusion. Despite our late arrival, it was quiet without a breeze. The spongy pine needles beneath the feet and the leaden skies above. Arriving at the Lake Michigan overlook we were suprised that the little wood table we’ve grown to love and a great place to lay out snacks had been cut down. We were reminded again of our temporal existence and glad that we could be here again. We walkeddown to the beach and walked south for a while, but could not pass due to rocks protectingsomeone’s cottage, and walked back the way we came. This is a short post, mainly to see that all the equipment and connections work properly. Our next post will be from Poitiers, France.
