Travel day – to Mexico City

February 7, 2023

I got up early to catch an early bus to Mexico City. Since the station in San Miguel de Allende is pretty close to downtown, I just walked down to the station in about 20 minutes, and as I hoped, there was a nice modern cafe there right next to the station. I stopped in for some Vera Cruz style eggs and Capuchino. Later I wished I had just gotten play eggs with no chorizo because it set my belly into a churning, but nothing bad happened and did not get sick.

The highways are really getting modernized in Mexico and the trip was pretty unveventful, except for the traffic jam coming into a big city that would be no different than New York or Chicago. Still we got in only 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

It’s often cool in the morning, and local residents, like the ETN bus service attendant takes the cold very seriously.

Arriving in Mexico, I grabbed an Uber who came in 1 minute and took me directly to the Condessa neighborhood known for being very pleasant residential area and being near to Chapultepec Park.

I was tired so rested and then went to a local Walmart City grocery a was surprised at how much it was like Carrefour in France and Spain. I got some quick groceries for an in apartment light evening meal. Tomorrow some street photography. I’m keeping this short today and will have more to report tomorrow.
